Minnewashta = Tank

On August 17th ZVBM headed to our 4th stop of the year on Lake Minnewashta. This is a catch and release lake so would be a measure tourney. I did pretty well prefishing and had decent fish eating crankbaits, however when it came day of I quickly realized that this wasn’t how they were going to be eating today. I ditched the crank bait quickly for texas rigs and jig worms and had my first hit on a jig worm only to have the line break on the hook set. Today in the back of the boat I had Chris. As Chris took the front of the boat for me to retie he politely asked if I would net the fish he had on and then to rub it in my wounds he proceeded to ask me if the line that was running out of the fishes mouth was my line, and indeed it was. This was pretty much how the rest of the day went. Chris managed his five behind me and I managed one fish on spinnerbait the whole day. I felt like we were in the right kind of places and even throwing the right things but never managed good hookups. It was indeed a grind of a day and it didn’t pay off for me. Although there was some good fish caught it was a long day for most by the sounds of it. I do like this lake and probably will be back for more I just hope it is as nice to me next time as it was in practice. http://www.zumbrovalleybassmasters.com/2009_Results.htm#Minnewashta
